RED PEPPER SPECTACLE ARTS presents the 16th annual

KENSINGTON MARKET FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

TUESDAY, DECEMBER 21, 2004

PROCESSION BEGINS AT 6:00PM SHARP FROM AUGUSTA & COLLEGE

(Augusta south of college closed to traffic from 5:30pm-6:00pm)

Red Pepper Spectacle Arts, the Samba Squad and many collaborators reunite to ignite the longest, darkest night of the year with their legendary lantern-lit celestial carnival in the narrow, culturally rich streets of historic Kensington Market.

Participate in this soulful, handmade holiday celebration. Join a cavalcade of musicians, giant puppets, stiltwalkers, firebreathers and revelers to beckon the return of the sun.

Created in 1987 by Ida Carnevali, this glowing journey encounters spectacular cosmic theatrics on rooftops and at intersections, culminating in a fiery send-off of the old-year.

Sing with choirs, break bread, slurp soup, and dance to the drums of many nations.

This is an accessible, free, all-ages event. Dress very warmly. Bring a lantern and / or percussion instrument.
